Behind the Scenes: How We Create Our Digital Printable Planners
Share
đ Step 1: Inspiration Strikes
Every planner starts with a problem.
Not in a bad wayâbut in a "how can we make life easier?" way. Whether itâs juggling a busy week, tracking a new habit, budgeting for the month, or just trying to remember whatâs for dinner⌠we design based on real needs from real people (including ourselves!).
Where we get our inspo:
-
Our own messy schedules đ
-
Customer requests & reviews
-
Seasonal needs (hello, holiday planner!)
-
TikTok/Instagram planner trends
-
A love for making order out of chaos
đ§ Step 2: Sketching the Layout
Before we ever touch the design tools, we sketch it outâpen, paper, coffee in hand. âď¸
We map out:
-
What the page needs to do (i.e., track habits, organize meals, plan a week)
-
How to make it simple & intuitive
-
What extra features would actually help
Think of it like UX design⌠but for your brain on paper.
đ¨ Step 3: Designing in Canva, Illustrator, or Affinity
This is where the magic happens â¨
We use tools like Canva Pro, Adobe Illustrator, or Affinity Designer to bring the layout to life.
This step includes:
-
Choosing fonts and colors that are stylish but still functional
-
Adding design elements (but keeping it uncluttered!)
-
Making sure it prints beautifully AND works great digitally (on GoodNotes, Notability, etc.)
We obsess over spacing, alignment, and whether that tiny checkbox is just right.
đ Step 4: Testing, Tweaking, and Testing Again
We print it out. We test it on iPads. We give it to our friends and ask:
đ âDoes this make sense?â
đ âWould you actually use this?â
đ âBe honestâdo you want to fill this in, or does it feel like a chore?â
Only the layouts that pass our vibe check make it into the final product.
đ¤ Why We Love Making These
Creating planners isnât just about cute fonts and boxes (though we love that part too). Itâs about helping people feel a little more in control of their chaos.
If one of our designs helps you breathe easier, plan better, or crush your goals? Thatâs a win for us.
